Untitled (mouth and ear)

This project is yet another attempt at linking a theme of communication with the material of steel.
The mouth came first. I was working in a very busy workshop, and I felt my work had little direction. I was sure I wanted to somehow integrate a thermal printer, but I did not feel confident that this would make the work 'whole'.

After a break, I came back and made the ear, much more quickly than the mouth. On its own, I feel the mouth is too simple, and while the ear is far more technically impressive, it would also be conceptually lacking on its own. When put together, I feel that there is a contrast between the two, and I feel that dynamic is somewhat resolved by the printed conversation that streams between them.
